Vista Support

As mentioned, Delphi 2007 will install on Vista.  And applications built with Delphi 2007 add some capabilities to your applications to support Windows Vista out of the box.

One of the new items in the project options is Theme Support.  With the box checked, your application will have the manifest embedded to support the new ComCtrl 6.x in XP and Vista.  The IDE itself, now supports this, so buttons, edit boxes, etc will appear as themed at design time.

Also in the project options, support for the new Vista icon sizes and PNG transparency is supported.  Prior to this release, you had to embed the Vista icons into the resource post build.

In addition to the standard dialogs, CodeGear has added additional Vista specific dialogs:

· TFileOpenDialog

· TFileSaveDialog

· TTaskDialog

The first two will provide access to the improved open/save dialogs that Vista offers.  In order to maintain non-breaking code, these are offered as Vista counterparts to the TOpenDialog and TSaveDialog.

The TTaskDialog is a new dialog to support the new dialog introduced in Windows Vista.

The new dialog provide the ability to give the end user more information to properly acknowledge the prompt.  Another nice touch is the ability to right-click on the TTaskdialog component and view a preview of the dialog.

VCL support for glassing includes making form borders glass, expanding the borders of glassing, and making an API call to the glass portions of a form. This will help make your apps shine when deployed to Vista customers using Aero.
